The appliance does not need to be a smart appliance. A fifteen-year-old air conditioner works exactly as well as a new one, because the blaster is simply doing what the handset did.

Why this one surprises people

Your old AC is already
a smart AC.

Almost every air conditioner, television, set-top box, projector and music system sold in the last thirty years is driven by an infrared handset. The handset does nothing clever. It flashes a pattern of light at the appliance. A blaster flashes the same patterns from a small box on a shelf.

Which means the upgrade path nobody sells you is: keep the appliance. You do not need a new air conditioner to control the air conditioner from your bed. At ₹2,500 – ₹6,000 a room, this is by a distance the cheapest thing on our price list, and per household it is the one that gets touched most often.

It is also the one that changes who holds the remote. There is exactly one handset in most living rooms, and it lives wherever the last person left it.

It learns what you already own

We point your existing handsets at the blaster and it records them, button by button. Nothing is replaced and nothing is thrown away. Your old remote keeps working alongside it.

Everyone in the house gets it

Not just the phone that set it up. Your partner, your children, your parents, the person staying in the guest room. This is the actual reason households like it.

It joins the scenes

Once the AC is on the system, "evening" can dim the lights, draw the curtains and set the AC to twenty-four in one instruction. Instead of three, one of which needs a handset nobody can find.

The two honest limits

Infrared cannot see
through walls.

Every complaint anybody has ever had about an IR blaster comes back to one of two facts, and both are physics rather than product quality. We would rather you knew them before you buy than discover them in week two.

Neither is a reason not to fit one. Both are reasons to fit it properly, in the right place, with realistic expectations about what it can tell you.

One blaster per room, with line of sight

Infrared is light. It bounces off walls a little, but it does not go through them, round corners, or out of a closed cabinet. A blaster in the living room will not operate the bedroom AC. We work out placement at the survey and test every appliance from where the box will actually sit.

It talks, it does not listen

A handset sends commands and gets nothing back, and neither does a blaster. So if somebody turns the AC off with the original remote, the app may still believe it is on. We set up scenes to send absolute commands rather than toggles, which fixes this in practice. But the app cannot truly know the state of an IR appliance, and anybody who tells you otherwise is selling something.

Wi-Fi for the phone, not for the blast

Reaching the blaster from your phone needs the network up. The blaster reaching the appliance does not. Scheduled routines that live on the hub keep firing through a broadband outage; the app on your phone is what stops working.

Three things people
want to know first.

Will it work with my fifteen-year-old air conditioner?

Almost certainly yes, and this is the main reason to fit one. If the AC came with an infrared handset, the sort you have to point at the unit, then the blaster can learn it. Age is irrelevant; a 2010 split unit is no harder than a 2025 one.

The exceptions are appliances driven by Bluetooth or radio handsets, which you can spot because they work without pointing. Bring your handsets to the survey, or photograph them and send them over, and we will tell you before you commit.

Do I need one in every room?

One per room that has appliances you want to control, because infrared will not pass through a wall. Most households do the living room first, add the main bedroom once they have seen the point, and never bother with the rest.

There is no hub-and-spoke arrangement that avoids this, and anyone offering one is describing something else.

Can my parents use it without a smartphone?

Yes, and they should not have to learn anything. Their existing handsets keep working exactly as they always did. The blaster sits alongside them, it does not replace them.
